Win That Dunking Contest

The secret to winning a dunking contest isn't in the style, the way you put the ball through the hoop, or even in your look. The secret is all in the jump. By increasing your vertical, you can be able to improve all of the aforementioned things and win all the dunking contests you desire.

There are a variety of prizes for winning a dunking contest, depending on the level of contest that you enter. For example, you might win a ps3 or a new tv from your local high school or you could even win hundreds of thousands of dollars from independent organizations during a professional sporting event.

If you are trying to develop your dunking ability there are a few steps that you must go through in order to increase your vertical. First off, it is a good idea to measure what your current vertical is. Everyone has to start from somewhere, so if your vertical is really lame right now, don't despair, just get to work. It is vital that you make reasonable but stretching goals so that you always have something to work towards. Maybe you want to jump an inch higher in 2 weeks? That would be a reasonable goal to shoot towards. If you make goals that are out of reach, you will quickly become discouraged and most likely give up before you even gave yourself a reasonable chance. By being able to achieve smaller goals more often, you're level of confidence will soar and your self-esteem will be sky-high.

The vertical requires certain muscles to be strong, the quads, glutes, and calves. By doing easy exercises like squats, jump roping, calf raises and other leg presses you will quickly see improvement. Make sure you do at least 3 sets of each exercise if you want to see any results.

So now that you got your vertical, what else do you need to win that dunking contest? First of all you need some style. You need to learn what the crowd wants to see and give it to them. When you become a crowd pleaser, the judges will reward you handsomely with big time scores. It really shows when you are having fun so let the crowd and the judges know that through your attitude.

Also, don't ever stop working on your vertical. If you want to keep up with the rest, you are going to have to put in the time and effort to do so. Not only will you maintain your current vertical jump but you will be able to increase it even more.

Perhaps to gain some confidence you will want to start out with dunking contests between you and your friends. If you can beat them, try challenging others at the local park. If you succeed there take it to the next level until you are competing for big time prizes.
