Compact Cameras Snapping And Shooting

Digital compact cameras or what they call point and shoot camera in other countries are one of the most popular gadgets today (next to mobile phones). This slim and stylish piece of technology has evolved to a much more versatile and consumer friendly equipment.

Today, some compact cameras come with audio and video recording capabilities and music player. The store and share features were also enhanced by installing Bluetooth and external memory that you can transfer to your computer and edit and send right away.

There are many brands of compact cameras in the market today. You've got Canon, Nikon, Kodak, Fuji Film, etc. But which one really gives you the run for your money.

We checked out the most popular brands and models and list down the things they offer.

Canon

Canon continuously dominates the photography field with their wide selections of compact cameras and DSLRs (Digital Single Lens Reflex). Their professional camera models are given crowd favorite with the likes of Canon Digital Rebel XT and XTi and EOS 40D because of their quality and inexpensiveness. On the other hand, their compact cameras also hold a good reputation.

Canon super zoom cameras are one of the favorites. Canon PowerShot S3 IS (6 mega pixel) and Canon Powershot S2 IS (5 mega pixel) both have 12x image stabilized zoom. Both of which are high-end advanced digital cameras. These models incorporate the performance of digital SLRs and the easy to use features of a compact camera.

For general consumers, they also have those slim and sleek varieties of cameras. PowerShot SD1000 is a 7.1 mega pixel camera with 3.8x wide angle image stabilized optical zoom. It also has LCD size of 2.5.

PowerShot SD750, the SD 1000's predecessor, is also equipped with 7.1 megapixel image sensor but with bigger display of 3.0.

Sony

A huge name in consumer technology, Sony has its own line of great camera models. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H5 comes in 7.2 mega pixels resolution with 12x image stabilized power zoom. Its LCD display has a size of 2.5 like the other Canon products. They also have 7.2 mega pixel Cyber-shot DSC-W55 with a limited 3x optical zoom and 2.5 LCD screen.

Panasonic

Panasonic DMC-FZ50 is a 10.1 megapixels 12x optical zoom lens. This camera is one of beloved consumer gadgets. Combined slr-esque capability, it is still as user friendly as any compact cameras out there. As cool as the former, DMC-TZ3 has 7.2 mega pixels of resolution, not bad for a not-so-advanced camera. It is also equipped with 10x stabilized image optical zoom.

Nikon

One of the most popular Nikon model in compact camera line is the Nikon Coolpix 4600. This small but terrible kid has 4 mega pixels resolution and 3x optical zoom. Its LCD size is only 1.8. But this one is only retailed for around $130.

A better version can be found in Nikon Coolpix 5400. It has 5.1 mega pixels with 4x optical zoom. A better deal of course calls for a larger price. This one is sold for $150.
