Home Remedies for Common Problems

There are some problems that are common, if not medically threatening in most cases. Problems such as dandruff, acne, age spots, and bad breath may not seem like monumental issues, but they can be annoying and embarrassing. People make tons of money selling "cures" that may or may not work to get rid of these problems. Luckily for you, there are home remedies that can help reduce, or even eliminate, these annoyances. Plus, home remedies cost much less than buying some tonic (or some book to tell you about them).

There are actually a few home remedies for dandruff. Perhaps the easiest and least time consuming cure is using aloe vera. Take some aloe vera gel and rub it into your scalp 10-15 minutes before you shower. Leave the aloe on your scalp for about 10 minutes and then shampoo as usual. Doing this everyday can keep the dandruff away.

If you aren't into the everyday treatment, you can use this remedy that only needs to be done two or three times a week: Massage scalp and hair with warm coconut oil. Add juice from two lemons and then steam your hair. Leave for two hours and then wash with a mild shampoo.

Acne is perhaps one of the more embarrassing and annoying afflictions known to humankind. It can be especially embarrassing if it is adult-onset. There are a few home remedies you can try to keep your acne under control. Pound orange peel well with water and apply to affected area. You can also grate pieces of cucumber and put on the areas affected by acne. A fresh cut garlic clove rubbed on the area or the pimple can also get rid of it. Drinking eight glasses of water per day is also helpful in preventing acne and giving your skin a healthy glow.

People over the age of 55 often begin to see age spots. These are caused by collections of pigments in the skin, often due to exposure from the sun. They are common on hands, arms, face, and other commonly exposed areas. While you will likely not be able to completely remove age spots, you can reduce their coloration and prominence by directly applying vitamin E oil to the spots each day.

Bad breath can be a real romance killer. It can also cause problems in professional settings and prompt your family and friends to pull back whenever you come near. Some ways to get rid of bad breath include chewing things like cardamom seeds, parsley, and just plain leaves. All of these things are considered natural deodorizers and breath sweeteners. Another thing you can do is take the juice from half a lemon and stir it into a glass of water. Then rinse your mouth out with it.

These home remedies can help you feel better about yourself and reduce some annoying problems. However, if your condition does not improve, there may be more serious medical forces at work, and you should consult a physician about what may be causing your persistent problems.
