Radiesse(R) - Dermal Fillers May Help Lessen the Effects of the San Diego Sun
Dermal fillers make up the most significant part of the injectable market not only in San Diego but across the United States. Every year more and more development occurs and that's good for the consumer. Radiesse is one in the line of fillers that has received FDA approval thereby assuring the patient of its efficacy and safety.
Injectables fillers remain popular in the marketplace for several reasons. They are affordable. They are noninvasive. They only require an office visit so there is no "down time". And, results are quickly noticeable. You can have your treatment done and go on about your day.
Radiesse has a variety of uses on the face. These include smoothing and contouring nasolabial folds and smile lines, vertical lip lines, and providing more definition to the lips. Radiesse remains soft and takes on the characteristics of the tissue around the area in which it is used. Because this product enhances natural collagen production in the skin new soft tissue gradually replaces the Radiesse over time.
Radiesse is based on an calcium microsphere technology. The microspheres are suspended in a natural gel that can be injected into the skin. Since Calcium is a natural part of our bodies Radiesse does not require allergy testing prior to use. Radiesse stimulates the skin to produce new collagen which is a benefit of this product.
As with most other fillers results are not permanent but Radiesse does last significantly longer than most. The results on patients usually last at least a year and sometimes even several years. This makes the treatment attractive to patients because it saves time and money in the long run.
Usually with dermal fillers a mild localized anesthetic is used to minimize any discomfort. The side effects from fillers tend to be minimal and can include swelling and bruising. After Radiesse treatments you should avoid activities that would strain or stimulate your facial muscles such as massage or a facial. You want the injected areas to remain relatively undisturbed for a period of about 48 hours.
We believe that only doctors should administer injectables to patients and that you seek out either a board certified plastic surgeon or a board certified dermatologist. We advise this standard of care as physicians have specialized knowledge of facial anatomy and are experienced in injection techniques. And, one of the strongest advantages of one of a board certified dermatologist or a board certified plastic surgeon doing your injection is that they can advise you on product choice. There are a number of dermal fillers and so judgment on which filler product is best for you is very important. The advice of an experienced physician will help you make that choice.
